Victor C. Barnes

Digital CFO, storyteller, & coach, Victor is a seasoned international executive with over 30 years of experience in multiple industries, markets, cultures, and business models. Victor is currently Global CFO of The McDonald’s Division (“TMD”) at Coca-Cola which reports directly to the company CEO – providing Victor exposure to the company’s ELT and other board-facing executives. He was previously CFO of one of Coca-Cola’s 17 global business units (Canada). Victor’s team orientation and globally-recognized leadership excellence were honed as an Elite level basketball coach where he mastered the art of unselfish play, acknowledging the assist, and winning as a team! The result: transformed businesses positioned to capture growth. Within a year of Victor’s arrival at TMD, the team is a Digital pacesetter within the company – delivering the right data to decision-making on where to play and how to win. Canada, in less than 3 years of Victor’s inspiring leadership, was transformed into a leader within Coke’s global system in entering new categories (Dairy, RTD Coffee, Premium Tea) while achieving the highest finance team engagement scores across all of North America finance.

With Big 4 CPA plus Internal Audit experience at Disney and Coke, Victor has deep exposure to industries ranging from manufacturing & electric utilities to real estate, entertainment, and retail. Victor has led post-merger integration ($4.1B Vitaminwater acquisition) & structuring companies for pre-close ($3B Coke Africa Bottler acquisition). He has also led multi-country teams that modernized international tax and statutory governance capability at Coke when Victor was Regional Controller covering sub-Saharan Africa. Victor has led the financials of some of Coca-Cola’s most strategic packaging innovations (low cal mini-can, and their first stevia-sweetened carbonated beverage). He’s also been the financial expert on deals with some of the Company’s most strategic partnerships (Disney, MLB, NBA) plus a litany of customer deals.

A common thread throughout Victor’s career is that he typically arrived at a point of change – just before or after a major business acquisition or a new business model to deploy. Victor’s style is to listen more than talk, look for opportunities to build on ideas and win without looking for credit. He is a published author of an article on digital transformation and is a sought-after speaker at CFO forums around the world.

Victor holds a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University J.L. Kellogg School of Management and is an Alumni of Northern Illinois University where he studied under professors who literally wrote (the leading) accounting texts. He received his Certified Public Accountant credentials in the state of Georgia, USA.

Victor and his wife Victoria met as 9th graders at their high school in Chicago, have been married for 35 years, have two children and four grandchildren. Victor enjoys reading and traveling and is an avid sports fan. Victor continues to mentor members of past basketball teams he coached, and finance organizations he’s led from around the world.
